The company's infrastructure maintenance operations encompass a wide range of services such as track maintenance and repair, rail, ballast and tie replacement, track inspections, and snow removal, among other activities.

In 2022, Genesis Rail Services, a company that performs heavy rail infrastructure work, cleans up derailments, and does trackwork, leased part of the former East End Shops, and has consolidated its facilities there, moving from Bluefield, W. Va. Genesis Rail was actually purchased by another company in 2021 and is now called Genesis Rail Services II.

First, in October, the company acquired Genesis Rail Services, which is a full-service railroad maintenance company based in Bluefield, W. Va., and Roanoke, Va. Cody Harman, son of company founder Jeff Harman, will retain a minority ownership stake in the company and continue in his role running day-to-day operations.
